Today we announced the release of Security Sheriff 4.1. This release improves secure collaboration, secure editing and makes it easier than ever to use Microsoft RMS.

The use of traditional (static) permissions greatly restricts secure document collaboration and editing making it ineffective at best. With the requirements on Active Directory and document permissions changing constantly, IT costs become too high, resulting in a lack of flexibility and inability to scale. With Security Sheriff’s dynamic content protection, collaboration is made scalable, more efficient and more secure. Implemented as an additional layer to traditional permissions, the automated policy protection rules are validated in real-time and secure every user/application action against every type of information view from every type of device and connection.

One of the greatest risks to the loss of corporate information is from trusted users either by mistake (losing USB drives, for example) or by intention (printing a copy of the customer list when exiting a company). Security Sheriff’s Secure Editing feature applies policy protection rules as users’ access documents. These rules can trigger on-the-fly application of RMS encryption locking documents to the editing user and controlling the user operations while editing (print, save as, copy and paste).

Finally, integrating Security Sheriff with Azure and AD RMS removes barriers to the use of RMS by automating the otherwise static, user-driven process of document encryption. If you are considering or using RMS to manually encrypt documents (based on individual or group email addresses), Security Sheriff now drives this process to be automated based on rules and policies. And because RMS logging is now integrated into Security Sheriff User Activity logging, customers have a single location for auditing that combines SharePoint actions and encryption using RMS.

We’re especially interested to hear about your use of Security Sheriff and its integration within your environment with RMS! For more information on the new features of Security Sheriff 4.1, please contact sales at sales@cryptzone.com or read more.
